You Are Gifted to Serve

Looking for work?

One of the most powerful organizations in the world is hiring. This organization offers young men and women health insurance, retirement, benefits, a good income, travel, and opportunity for advancement. Other benefits include  a company paid education and advanced training to develop specialized skills. As employees develop, they are even entrusted with company secrets.

Sounds great, doesn’t it? This organization does this for all applicants who qualify and are willing to be trained and give their life to their work.

You’re not likely to see this company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, or featured in The Wall Street Journal or Business Week. Yet this major player on the world scene has a budget of several billion dollars.  Almost every day we hear about their advancements and the work they are doing to change lives.

Who is this company? It is our military!

The military provides its people all the support and training needed to accomplish a mission. It’s silly to think they would invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in an individual, teach that person specialized skills, such as electronics, communication, aviation, engineering, technical training and more, yet not expect that person to use the training to further the military’s mission of keeping America safe!

Wouldn’t it be silly to think He doesn’t have plans for us?

In the same way, for those of us who will surrender to follow Christ, God lavishes His love on us, wipes our slate clean, grants us a full pardon, indwells our lives with His Spirit, provides personal guidance, strength, encouragement, help, and protection, and even gives us supernatural enablement to accomplish His Mission! Wouldn’t it be silly to think He doesn’t have plans for us?

How short sighted to think that, just because God loves us, it is now all about us! How selfish to believe that the only reason Almighty God gave His One and Only Son, a spotless sacrifice, was for us to indulge our own pleasure and comfort!

Yes, He does love us, but we’re not the only ones He loves!

Yes, He does love us, but we’re not the only ones He loves! Yes, He does want us to spend eternity with Him when this life is over, but we’re not the only ones He wants to be with Him forever!

In Eph. 3:14-19 Paul prayed:

·      They would be strengthened with power through His Spirit

·      That Christ would dwell in their hearts through faith

·      That founded and grounded in love, they would begin to grasp how immeasurable is the love of Christ

·      So that they would filled with the fullness of God

Sounds wonderful because it is! But again, Paul’s prayer wasn’t just for the Ephesians. It was bigger than them! They were called to a purpose for living that was bigger than themselves, and so are we!

He is inviting you to join Him in His work!

Not unlike the men and women who answered the call to serve in our military, you may have answered the Lord Jesus’ call to follow and serve Him. By answering His call, you are beginning an amazing adventure that leads to a real and personal relationship with Him! He is inviting you to join Him in His work! The greatest commander of all time has given you the greatest assignment of your lifetime for the greatest cause in all human history!

While many people have answered Jesus’ call to follow Him, tragically, few are serving in furtherance of His Mission.

It reminds me of a guy looking for a gym to join. He came to a large facility and, during the tour with the manager, he said, “Wow, this place is huge!” Then he asked, “How many people work out here?”

Without missing a beat, the manager said, “About one in three!”

Ha! How true! And sadly, it is true for many churches. But that is not the design laid out in Scripture, that is not God’s plan for His church, and that is not what Pebble Creek is about!

We were GIFTED TO SERVE!

I would love to help equip you to join God in His work. Join us Sunday!
